BBC website and Daily Experss is suggesting that the Tartan Army are preparing a revolt should angry Barry, McG and Boyd be allowed to return to the Scotland set up.
Other than being surprised that Smith is allowing this, given that it was he that effectively banned them, what is Jailers Tours view of their return?
After travelling on numerouss occassions to follow Scotland, I'd suggest that there are many thousand more 'foot-soldiers' who have disgraced the country far more than the above. It wouldn't stretching the point too far to say the vast majority are dicks. |

Smith has been quoted as saying that they were banned as long as Burley was manager and therefore a new manager could lift the ban if he desired. At the time of the ban I was furious with McGregor and Ferguson and would have gladly had them hung on Glasgow Green. However, life moves on and I suppose a new manager should be able to pick them if he wants.
I'm not sure if any of the three would be first choices but lets debate their value to the squad.
Ferguson - One of the most annoying wee neds ever to appear in a Scotland strip. He is however a regular in Birmingham's 1st team and plays in the Premier League which would justify his inclusiuon in Scotlands 1st 11.
Boyd - Lazy fast bastard who can score goals in the SPL. The jury is still out and a move to England in Jan would help decide whether he is a decent player.
McGregor - Thick and arrogant goalie who would be second choice to Craig Gordon who is injured most of the season. Therefore we could probably do with him back in the squad.
As for your second point I feel you have your fishing rod out.
Scotland fans comply with 10% rule. E.g Wherever ever you go in the world 10% of the people are arseholes. This rule somehow is broken when the old firm enter the equasion when the figure rises to 25%.
As you have experienced on numerous trips Scotland has their fair share of bangers that follow the team. The amazing fact is that due to the self policing of the Tartan Army the 10% are never allowed to spoil our excellent reputation abroad.
The latest campaign has been an excellent example where we endured pathetic performances but there has never any sign of trouble. This is even more surprising that some of the support hails from the social underclass that we have discussed on numerous occassions.
We can always improve the standard of behaviour abroad but I think we are punching above our weight at the moment especially when you consider recent activities of non kilted Scots in Manchester and Bucharest. |

I'm concerned at the amount of expeletive and profanity in use during JT's reply!
Perhaps that passionate response is based ona element of ire at the likely Daily record inspired return of those three
I say three as Boyd, beter than Superally, but only as good at best as Robbo and not a patch on Pettigrew, effectively banned himself!
He'll only get fatter and lazier as his career progresses.
Apart from McGregor, who will only ever be a reserve to Gordon, the other two and the studs up tackling champion of the world McCulloch can get tae..
What was the question again? too much speckled hen! |
