A Jailer Tours side mixed with youth and experience headed north to Inverness to play a youthful Diegos team for the third year in a row.
JT left the experienced Mailer, Laing and Brown on the bench. Starting with
Nipper
Lee Dott Duff English
Jenes Smith Barnett Brown
Buchan Stephen
It was a close encounter with both sides having chances but both sides failed to convert their chances and the game ended in a 0 0 draw.
Biggest villain for JT was Rinky Dink who wasted a glorious chance for the away team. Nipper in goals for JT was outstanding and kept the Perth side in the game with a couple of excellent saves.
On the plus side for JT there was the usual excellent performances from the old guard with the Jailer, Andye, Deano and Stevie Brown in inspirational form.
However the game ended without either side finding the net and it ended up with the dreaded penalty shoot out.
Unbelievably the Nipper pulled off two magnificient saves, Delbet missed but Barney and young Smith netted for JT. Diegos were up next and missed sending a proud JT side into the next round for the first time.
JT had many stalwarts but none greater than the Nipper who was outstanding throughout and deservedly took the MOM.
A couple of beers were enjoyed on the trip home as a buoyant JT side reflected on a historic first victory. |
