SAINTS SECURE KEEPER FROM RANGERS
Saints have added to their squad today with the signing of Rangers goalkeeper Graeme Smith on a two year contract.
The 26 year old former Kilmarnock keeper has had to be content with a place as second or third choice during his two years at Ibrox and although he had a further one year remaining on his contract he has been lured to McDiarmid Park by Derek McInnes who has made no secret of the fact that he wanted to add to his current two options of Alan Main and Euan McLean.
Six foot three inch Smith, spent several years at Rugby Park and had a loan spell with Queen’s Park during that time but two years ago made the move to Ibrox on a free transfer. Although unable to make the breakthrough into the first team he did have the experience of being on the substitutes’ bench in Rangers UEFA Cup Final.
Derek McInnes is delighted to have secured the services of Smith. He said “Graeme will give us another option. He is frustrated at the lack of first team involvement and hungry for success. His best years are ahead of him and I am very pleased to have brought him to Perth.” |
