After vimvan BB's recent interest in the super saintees I can't believe that the vimster is not going to Dens to see the Saints potentially win the league.
Join my petition to get the vimster to Dens
Oh and before I forget what about that unionist dumpling McBeefy He's working Saints win the league at Dense Park and the piper is in A Hall in the Jail.
Come on boys this could be the biggest noise up ever for the coagies |

I remember fairly distinctly a trip to Scumdee some years ago, Circa 1980, when, in a markedly simillar situation Santa Giovanni were needing a win to obliterate the hopes of the Coags, who were also viaing for promotion.
It was April, very sunny and almost the entire population of Purth attended, crammed into the uncovered TDK end. It was a bit like Macedamia but without the free fizzy water.
Saints wore the superb umbro type strip worn against "them" in the two fingered "get it right up ye" Tam McNeill match at Castle greyskull.
The strip was actually quite like that worn by Everton and Aston Villa as a change strip.
I think Peter Mackie, a small ribena pussed winger scored for Scumdee but Sally McMoist, before he became a total fudd, equalised. The TDK end then gone and went mental. But in truth it was Saintees only attack of the entire match and the Scumdee centre forward, Sinclair I think, then scored two heiders before Mackie finished the hoseing!
That wasnt the end of the not promoted to the premier league season, as although only a few weeks remained in the season a few more twistys and turnys were to take place. But that is a nother story...
It is for this post traumatic stressed disorder reason that I cannot return to that same set of circumstances. And I fear a simillar result might be forthcoming
And also I wouldnae be allowed |

Glad you asked.
In a further twist in that topsy kevinturvey end of season the toto annihilation at dense park, watched by the entire population of Purth and a lot of Coagies who had saved up their bru money or got in on UB40 fee, was not infact the end of the Saints promotion hopes. Inexplicably Scumdee drew or got beat by some other diddy team in a mid week match and Santa Giovannistone could go back to the top with a win at East Stirling.
I recall going with Skale fitba side, after a crushing 8-0 win aganst alyth, on the train to see the game.
The entire population of Purth was again in attendance and some who couldn't make the Scumdee humilliation were also there.
Unfortunately the bigger boys who were arranging the trip had never been to East Stirling and we all got off the train at Stirling station and then back on again soon after when we realised the game was in Falkirkish.
It was a baking hot day, saints played in the everton strips, disasterously Tam Mcneill wasnt playing. East Stirlingnil, scored in about five minutes. It was a crap game saints did no attacking, supersally was rubbish and George Fleming was even worserer!
However with only seconds remaining, Dillon and Dunc Porter suggested the entire population of Purth should invade the pitch cause an abandonment and regroup for the subsequent replayed match. Like what "them" and Cellick do.
Inexplicably though, right at the moment that Willie Williamson was climbing the hoarding, John Brogan crossed from the wing and the ball kind of headed in the direction of the goal in a sort of swervey manner, rather like a woolies ball in the wind, scraped the underside of the bar and the referee, a Mr S Cosgrove from Letham awarded a goal!!! Result!!
A sign of champions, drawing with a pub team in the last seconds! Unfortunately about two weeks later in a game covered by Sportsreel with Brian Marchbanks, Scumdee won about 25-0, and that was that for the Saints for another year!

Looking forward to more of your early 80's SuperSaints memories. 82/3 was a promotion season. Great game near the end of the season when we beat Hearts 2 -1 with a Ray Blair diving header. ... then it was off to Alloa for Andy B's magic moment. |

Ah well, didnt see anymore saints or Andy B for a number of reason. Even at that tender age I had become an integral part of the YBrig amees push for immediate relegation.
None of that finishing second or third bottom or escaping through league reconstruction for the YBrig. We were going for rock bottom gaining less points than that first time saints were in the premier league and got humped 9-2 by the Hibees.
I can tell you in the early 80's amee football was no place for a GlenHoddle alikee middle fielder. Being able to do three or more keepyuppies during the warm up and wearing your shorts as far up yer crack as "dumptruck" the sumo wrestler was guarenteed to get you halfed in the first thirty seconds.
A harsh lesson which I learned against Burreleton rovers, average height 6'15", average age >35.
It was pretty easy to saunter into their box, round the keeper and prepare to drive the ball into the unguarded net. However a centre half called Corky the ref took exception to this and booted me right up the ring two yards from goal just as I was about to lash the ball home. Fat albert the ref had obviously been unsighted from his position in the centre circle and mysteriously waved play on shouting " well in Corky the prospective junior ref!"
My gimpness is a direct result of that clash with Corky the refs size 9 Puma Jairzinho world cups. |
