Hi Fellow Adventurers !

We're planning to walk the Speyside Way on the 1st Weekend in June next year.

Friday 3rd June

Depart Perth 0630 Jocks Luxury Coaches will drop us off at the starting point at Buckpool Harbour near Spey Bay.

It is a 23 mile walk to the village of Craigallechie where we can enjoy a few beers at the Highlander Inn in the evening. http://www.whiskyinn.com/thebar.html

Sat 4th June

Day 2 is a 25 mile to Granton on Spey where we will have a wide choice of watering holes for evening entertainment.

Sunday 5th June

17 mile walk to Aviemore where we will enjoy a few beers before Jock picks us up to take us back to Perth.

There are 14 spaces available and once I have final numbers I will look at accomodation but there are Hotels/B&B's and campsites at both overnight stops.

Cheers

Craig

If I down my pint in 1, do I only need to have a half at the next one?
Against my better judgement, yes. As stated in my e-mail reply, may opt for premature ending if suitable watering hole is found. drinking2

Response to the initial email has been very positive and it looks like we will have enough interest to go ahead with this venture. gd job

So far, the following have expressed an interest in coming along.

Gaffy,
Shark
Chass
Barney
Vimvan
Sean McCabe
Deano
Andye
Jailer

I've emailed a few hotels for prices and hopefully the total cost inc 2 nights B&B and transport will be around £90. ok

It's worth mentioning that walking 65 miles in 3 days might be more difficult than it's sounds but with the carrot of a comfy bed and a few beer at the end of each day it should be well within everyone's capability inc. Gaffy. Laughing

Now you're talking. Speyside walk challengy sponsored drinkathon milarky.....Let's do it on a mini bus or train. Quizes galore. Get a question wrong - down a bottle of beer in one - there is no other way. In between the quizes, get the picnic out. Warm white wine (out of a box of course). 600 packets of crisps and the same amount of crates of beer. Bottle opener? Yes, one between all and it's not very good. Quicker with your teeth. 1 garage baguette or street stall 'kebab' to represent square meal. Whilst dining, out come the doms and cards. Doms - is it skill or is it luck? As all this takes place, wee Pwabs puts the music on and lets us hear exactly 7 seconds of each track, before moving on to the next one. Upon embarking mode of transport, we will leave aforementioned music player on board, never to be seen again. Don't fret, Nips seems to know where to get another one from. No prizes, no winners, no losers, no idea if we're on the right train. No, Roma!
And if we walk, who's going to carry the carry-out? Mmmm, is this such a good idea? Perhaps this 'trip' is not about the bevvy. If so, why is it appearing on JT. More questions than answers?
Goodnight.

Good post Gaffy Laughing

You've managed to sum up 20 years of JT trips in a paragraph. gd job

Add wee pwabs throwing up, Deano going on walkabout and a cute JT member in a long blonde wig all with the sound of dodgy bagpipe tunes played too fast in the background and we,ve got it covered. drinking

Add Eric Duff and Jim Elliot brings the total to 14. I'm sure there will be casualties as soon as money is mentioned so room for a couple of reserves if required.

Hopefully have further info soon.

I spoke to Jock today and he is happy to provide the transport for Jailer Tours 1st Walking Holiday. clap

Currently negotiating with a couple of hotels over prices. Hopefully everything will be confirmed shortly.

Can everyone pay £40 deposit by the end of August. I'm confident that transport and hotels will cost around £90 - £95.
