Thanks to all 11 who contributed in various ways to ensure that JT's first walking holiday was a massive success. ok

After surviving a minibus journey with the dodgiest driver Shocked ever to transport JT who made Jock look like a professional the walk started in blistering heat at Buckie.

After 10 miles hard slog the heat had taken its toll on four of the group with kirky, Graham, The Meister and nipper finding the lure of the bars in Fochabers too much to resist. beer The other 7 arrived tired and wounded in Craigellachie where the Highlander Inn proved to be an excellent base for recuperation and replacing lost fluid. drinking

After a night of food, drink and a sing-song with JT's resident chanter nips, a role call in the morning found that three of the group Shark, Nips and Sylvester had to withdraw due to injury. thinking Using their initiative they made their way quickly to our next base Granton On Spey where they quickly integrated with the locals to ensure that we would be warmly accepted on our arrival.

Twelve miles in six more walkers decided to call it a day leaving McBeefy
with a difficult decision of whether to carry on or retire. thinking The decision was quickly made for him and McBeefy and myself carried on finally arriving in Granton at 1830 to a raucous reception in the Claymore Bar from JT members and locals who had been enjoying the hospitality on offer all afternoon. The night in the hotel bar was one of the best nights on tour with JT helped along with the local characters. ymca

Although there was lots of nifty footwork displayed on the dance floor only 4 JT members declared themselves fit for duty on Sunday. The Meister, Kirky, McBeefy and myself set off on the final 17 miles to Aviemore. The lure of the steam train at boat of Garten proved too much for Kirky and the Meister leaving McBeefy and myself to limp in to Aviemore to meet up with the JT troops.

A couple of awards

McBeefy clap Not only did he complete the walk but the knowledge that he shared with the group was beyond belief. I have googled the elephants antiseptic stomach but couldn't find any info but I'm sure it must be true Wink

Dee_62 gd job Glided across the dancefloor like John Travolta on Saturday night but obviously suffered severe injuries during the night as he had to be helped down the stairs to breakfast on Sunday morning.

Nipper Laughing The only member who completed more miles on his training day than he did during the whole weekend.
